Discussion Suggestion:

When you're in a group discussion, like Eros class, you should be careful aout making your statements sound personal. Say, instance, we're talking about whether bottoms should or should not do a particular task. If you say "well, if your bottom doesn't do it, you should get another, 'cause my bottom does that and much more," that sounds personal. You have just told someone that someone they care about is deficient. Not a good way to make friends and influence people.

If you just changed it to "well, its something I require, and my bottom does that and more..." nobody would think you're bagging on their bottom. You're just bragging on your own, which is not only acceptable, but expected.

Usually you are not meaning anyone in particular; its a generic "you." But that generic "you" can get you in trouble in speaking, just like it can in posts on the internet. And I just hate seeing people piss folks off when I'm pretty sure that was not their intent.

Well, we had a good class on Saturday. The topic was "who has the best deal, tops or bottoms?" It was a good discussion, but didn't go exactly as I figured it would.

Everybody pretty much (and predictably) said that whatever your side of the slash would seem best to you. But I was surprised that nobody noted that the top puts lots of effort into a scene, while the bottom is basically receiving, and that this imbalance is rectified by the bottom performing service for the top, usually outside of scene.

Its funny, but periodically someone will say "well, Clay, we're not gonna be able to decide this issue definitively..." When they do, I remind them that we're not trying to; we're just talking about the idea. But anyway, it was an interesting class.

Well, we had a non-official Superbowl party on Sunday. There were about 25 of us die-hard sports fans in attendance. Harump, we were so die-hard not a soul noticed that I had the time wrong for the game. But we scrambled a bit at the last minute, and made it work.

It gave me a chance to show off my new toy. No, not something kinky this time; a foosball table. I was pleasantly surprised at how many players there were, and by how good they were.

So we played foosball, and nasty games, and watched porn, and had tarot readings by one guest, who was very good at it, and did assorted nastier things in the back room. Oh, yeah, and there was a football game, too. All in all, it was a good time.

Last weekend, we had a special guest. Jack Rinella, in town for the Open Door meeting (and you-know-who's Dark Party), came to class and discussed long term relationships.

We had a good class and a good time, and saw him again later in the evening at the party.
